Funeral Directors Association installs secretary treasurer and president elect
Bruce Parthemore was installed as the 2020-21 president elect and Michael Hacker was installed as the secretary treasurer of the Pennsylvania Funeral Directors Association at the association’s Fall Board Meeting.
Organized in 1881, PFDA is one of the largest state funeral director associations in the nation.
Hacker is a graduate of Sullivan County High School, Class of 1993, he earned a degree in Business Administration from the Pennsylvania College of Technology and graduated from the Pittsburgh Institute of Mortuary Science.
Hacker started his career with McCarty-Thomas Funeral Home as an intern in 2002. He continued working for the Thomas family as a licensed funeral director until purchasing the funeral home on July 1, 2009.
He is a member of the Valley United Methodist Church, Muncy Valley, the Muncy Lodge 299 F. & A. M., the Irem Temple Shrine, a charter member of the Sons of the American Legion Post 601, Sonestown, is past president of Central Pennsylvania Funeral Directors Association and currently serves as secretary and treasurer for the Pennsylvania Funeral Directors Association.
In his free time Hacker enjoys spending time with his two daughters, Adrienne and Madalyn, and his granddaughter Blakeleigh. He also enjoys golfing, volunteering and working on his farm.
Parthemore is a licensed funeral director and certified preplanning consultant. He attended West Virginia University and the Pittsburgh Institute of Mortuary Science and holds a Pennsylvania insurance license in life, annuities, accident and health.
In addition to P.F.D.A., Parthemore is a member of Capital City Funeral Directors Association, N.F.D.A. and O.G.R.
Along with being active in his local church and, according to a press release, he is also a member of the Harrisburg Kiwanis Club, the New Cumberland Olde Town Association, Caring Hearts Pet Therapy and Alliance of Therapy Dogs. Bruce, with his certified therapy dogs Jasper and Maggie, visit the Penn State Children’s Hospital weekly.
He is married, has two adult children and a grandson.
