LDG receives awards for communication, diversity efforts

Larson Design Group (LDG) is honored to once again earn recognition from one of the most prestigious industry groups for the fields of architecture, engineering and consulting. LDG received two awards from the American Council of Engineering Companies Pennsylvania (ACEC/PA) during its annual Diamond Awards for Engineering Excellence on Jan. 28 – one that highlights excellent communication of a project and one recognizing LDG’s efforts toward a diverse and inclusive workplace.

LDG was awarded the Best Panel Design Award for Communication of Engineering Excellence, which recognizes the best photographic display panel submitted as an entry in the Diamond Awards competition. This award promotes the communication of engineering excellence by creating displays that are both visually exciting and stimulating to read, as well as promoting the achievements of the engineering profession.

LDG received the award for the display panel for its Beaver County Regional Council of Governments COVID-19 Community Resource Hub project – an interactive web portal that leverages Geographic Information Systems (GIS) technology to curate and transform data about the COVID-19 pandemic into useful, relevant information for the residents of Beaver County. The robust hub environment is refreshed at least daily, to pinpoint COVID testing centers, the capacities of local and regional hospitals, reported cases and confirmed deaths, and support services for those whose employment has been affected by the pandemic, including food banks, free meal services and mental health support.

“I am extremely proud of the collaboration between LDG’s Marketing & Communications and GIS teams on this panel,” said Ashley Heinnickel, Chief Marketing Officer. “The design highlights the versatility and responsiveness of the site across various digital platforms in a creative and engaging way. We are grateful to ACEC/PA for this recognition.”

The second award LDG received was the Diversity and Inclusion Award, which showcases an ACEC member firm’s actions to foster a workplace that promotes diversity, inclusion, equity and belonging. LDG’s submission outlined the company’s approaches in formal program development, workforce diversity, and recruiting strategies and the actions taken in support of those key areas – from establishing Larson Link, an in-house group in which members of marginalized groups, allies and those looking to be allies can talk, share, educate and support each other – to the diverse hiring practices in place since establishing the committee in 2017.

“It’s a great honor to be recognized by ACEC/PA for the hard work that our committee, Senior Leadership Team and Board of Directors have put in to help build a diverse and inclusive workplace,” said Kaylee Caruso, Recruiting Associate and chair of LDG’s Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Belonging Committee. “We will continue to strive to create a culture of diversity, equity, inclusion and belonging here at Larson Design Group.”
