Dick’s to depart Lycoming Mall for Lycoming Crossing Plaza
Dick’s Sporting Goods, currently located within the Lycoming Mall complex, is in the process of building a new location at the Lycoming Crossing Shopping Center, according to the Muncy Township supervisors.
Dick’s follows several other businesses, notably Old Navy, in leaving the mall to go to an open-faced setting, where shoppers can park directly in front of the store.
Muncy Township approved the zoning request to build a new building alongside the Five Below, however it is unknown when the new location will be open for business.
Gwen Pidcoe, the township’s secretary, has previously explained many brands are moving their stores outside shopping malls to become easier for the public to access.
Pidcoe also said the township is applying for a million-dollar RCAP grant from the Commonwealth. If successful in its application, Muncy Township will use that money to pay off debt leftover from the construction of the building, and apply it to complete miscellaneous projects around the township.
Under new business, David Spring, who represented the Ashler Manor board of directors, approached the supervisors to offer a $5,000 donation to the township as thanks for supporting the non-profit organization that offers services to area youth.
“We hope every girl we bring in leaves better,” Spring said. “We can be burdensome on the system.”
Spring thanked the supervisors and emergency services for their help and support for the home.
In other news, Paula Miller and Dean Smith were appointed to the township’s planning commission.
Additionally, The Muncy Township 2020 Fiscal Audit yielded no findings of consequence.
Finally, the supervisors awarded a contract for its annual vegetation control to D.A.D.’s Landscaping.
The Muncy Township supervisors meet the second Wednesday of every month at 7:30 p.m. at the township’s municipal building located at 1922 Pond Road, Muncy, PA. It will next meet April 14.
