American Rescue Workers hires new director of shelters

American Rescue Workers (ARW) announced the recent appointment of William Coleman into the position of director of shelters. Coleman previously held the position of case manager/housing specialist at ARW, responsible for working directly with clients in the organization’s two emergency shelters.

Coleman, employed with American Rescue Workers since 2019, has been instrumental in helping hundreds of individuals and families reach self-sufficiency after experiencing a homeless crisis, and through his new position, will be able to serve community members on a larger scale, according to a press release

Coleman states, regarding the recent appointment, “My heart is steady in my desire to serve the homeless community. I believe God has created me to serve as an advocate and helper to those in need and that my skills and empathy will be of great benefit to the ministry of American Rescue Workers.”

“Since the beginning of his employment, William has had the opportunity to develop skills and knowledge which I believe will make him an effective, impactful and compassionate Director of Shelters and will take our program to new heights. William is a team player who advocates for the needs and well-being of those who are in our care,” said business administrator, Dawn Astin in regards to Coleman accepting the new position as Director of Shelters.

Coleman holds a bachelor’s degree in psychology from Pennsylvania State University and a carpentry diploma from Indiana County Technology Center.
