Shoppers hoping to pick up, sell, or trade the latest styles in footwear and urban design brands need look no further than the newly opened Mitch Kicks, located at 1911 E. Third St. in Williamsport.

Originally established in 2017, Mitch Kicks had its first physical location open in the Susquehanna Valley Mall in Selinsgrove in 2019. “We just moved up here now because we were getting a lot of support from people up here (the Williamsport area) when we were down there…”

Owned by Khaalid Muhammad of Connecticut and with the new location being managed by Rodney Barclay, of New Jersey, the store not only serves to offer customers the latest and greatest in fashion, it also serves to give back to the community and those in need.

One particular charitable cause that both men believe in giving back to the most is helping prisoners who have completed their assigned sentence have a successful reentry into society.

“Having issues with housing, that’s a big dilemma,” said Barclay. “Or when people get in trouble, helping them get their records expunged. Things that give somebody an opportunity.”

The shop is also supporting Toys for Tots, “You bring in a toy, you get five percent off your purchase,” said Muhammad. “And we give you a free chance at the hoop (a basketball hoop mounted next to the checkout counter). If you make it you get an extra discount on your purchase.”

“The ultimate goal is generational wealth,” said Barclay. “This is something that’s not just here to be here, this is something that’s going to be passed on generation after generation… The hope is inspirational, to let everybody know that they can do it too.” The importance of setting up something that can be passed onto future generations is of great importance to both men, as both are fathers with Muhammad being a father of four.
