Shop local to spruce up home during Spring cleaning

Whether you are preparing your house for sale or simply doing a spring spruce up, buying local can help you tackle a range of projects from small to big.
One of the easiest ways to breathe new life into a home is with fresh paint.
According to Lisa Fink, with Fink's Paint Store in Williamsport, here are some paint trends to keep in mind.
"White is still a thing but color is coming back rather than all the grays. Color changes your mood and it’s important to have colors that make you happy," she said.
Fink's Paint Store carries only Benjamin Moore paint and Fink added that this year's Benjamin Moore color of the year is October Mist. The manufacturer's website described the color as, "Evoking the silver-green stem of a flower. October Mist creates a canvas for other colors."
Are you thinking of going larger with your spring spruce up? If you are considering a kitchen renovation, then ReStore can help with saving money on new cabinets. Recently, they established a pop-up store at 535 East Third St., which only sells new kitchen cabinets. Around twenty five tractor trailers of cabinets were donated by Wood Mode, which manufactures them in Middleburg.
"We are selling them from $1,000 to $6,000. They are custom made kitchen cabinets for someone's kitchen, who then canceled the order. If you are working on a kitchen remodel, bring your contractor with you," said Corinne Stammel-Demmien, program director with Greater Lycoming Habitat for Humanity. You can buy a brand new set from a retailer but you might not get them until august. We are selling these sets up to 90 percent off invoice."
According to Stammel-Demmien, the pop-up store will remain open Saturdays from 9 a.m. – 3 p.m., until all the inventory is sold.
The best part about buying local in the case of ReStore is that you get to help other aspiring homeowners.
Stammel-Demmien said, "These cabinets are going to raise money for various programs [at Habitat for Humanity] here and it is going to save us money because we will be using the donated cabinets in our home builds for the next few years."
