Wilston-Currie Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 130 S. Main St. Mansfield, recently announced new and local ownership, according to a news release.
Tyler Currie, of Gillett, has purchased and rebranded the former Gary W. Wilston Funeral Home & Cremation Service.
He graduated from Troy High School and received his undergraduate degree from Mansfield University. In pursuit of a career in funeral service, he earned his funeral service degree from Pittsburgh Institute of Mortuary Science and became a certified life celebrant.
He has served over 15 years in the funeral industry, seven of which as a licensed funeral director, within the Mansfield, Troy, Wellsboro and Coudersport communities.
"Tyler and staff will continue to professionally handle your loved one's final journey with dignity and compassion," the news release said. "Carrying on an over 50-year tradition of quality and affordable funeral services in the heart of downtown Mansfield, the funeral home will be open and available 24 hours a day, seven days a week, to respond and assist any family at any time. Tyler is available full-time and lives right above the funeral home with his daughter, Scarlett."
There are six additional part-time funeral associates from Tioga and Bradford counties. The news release said the entire staff understands that families need honest, fair, and meaningful experiences during difficult times of loss.
"At Wilston-Currie Funeral Home you will never be treated as an annual statistic, or taken advantage of financially, during an already difficult time," the news release said. "Wilston-Currie Funeral Home strives to be viewed as a home for the living, primarily focusing on pre-need consultations, at-need assistance, educational seminars, veterans' assistance, aftercare programs, monument sales and bereavement groups.
"Tyler and staff believe there should be no pressure or obligation in selecting funeral services or merchandise, therefore any pre-need consultation, inquiry or attendance to funeral home events will not require a commitment to use their services," the announcement continued.
Additionally, if anyone is unsatisfied with their current prearrangements or ownership at another facility, most prearranged and prefunded funerals are fully transferable upon the owner's request, according to the news release.
A monthly bereavement group, open to the public, will also be held at the funeral home on Wednesdays.
The goal of this new bereavement group is to provide a local platform and safe haven for grieving families to share their stories, receive local support and take healthy steps toward healing in their grief journey.
