The Pennsylvania Council on Financial Literacy, through Brighter Financial Futures, recently announced that due to the sponsorship of Woodlands Bank, all students in grades 3-12 can participate in the Spring Semester Personal Budgeting and Investing Challenges free of charge.
"Through our hands-on simulations, students have fun while learning how to budget, pay monthly bills, spend wisely, build credit and invest in the market," a news release said. "Students with the highest scores in the Personal Budgeting Challenge and the highest portfolio values in the Investing Challenge all win prizes."
The competitions are held in the classroom, both county-wide and state-wide. Schools can sign up for our Budgeting and Investing competitions at www.penncfl.org.

The Pennsylvania Council on Financial Literacy "exists to prepare the next generation to rise up," the news release said. "Many in society today suffer financially due to the lack of financial management skills and a 'minimum wage' mindset. We strive to change the future by offering all Pennsylvania students in grades K -12 with personal finance education, personal budgeting and investing challenges, along with entrepreneurship skills that will help them thrive in the workforce and in life."
