Law professionals’ group elects president, presents awards

At its annual meeting in early January, the members of the Lycoming Law Association (LLA) elected Joy Reynolds McCoy to serve as their 123rd president. McCoy joined the leadership committee at the LLA in 2020, serving as the secretary in 2022. Upon election, McCoy expressed gratitude to outgoing LLA President Elizabeth White and thanked the members of the organization for the opportunity to serve.
The association also recognized community service with two awards, according to a news release.
The Lycoming County Sheriff's Office was recognized with the 2024 LLA Public Service Award. In presenting the award, McCoy pointed out that the Sheriff's Office makes Protection from Abuse work a top priority. In 2023, the Lycoming County Sheriff's Office served 640 PFAs, about a hundred more than the previous year. When accepting the award, Sheriff Mark Lusk acknowledged that PFA work can be dangerous, particularly when weapon relinquishment is required, the news release said.
The Lycoming Law Association also recognized attorney Lisa Glick with the 2023 Honorable Thomas Wood Jr. Equal Access to Justice Award. Glick received the award for her extraordinary volunteer work and commitment to equal justice to the poor.
Since passing the bar exam, in October of 2022, Glick has accepted 11 pro bono referrals from North Penn Legal Services, including medial assistance terminations, coverage denials, adult guardianships, powers of attorney, and domestic abuse cases.
Following the presentation by the LLA, Glick was also awarded the Pennsylvania Bar Association's Pro Bono Award.
