Pennsylvania College of Technology has appointed Kate Hummel as senior director of campus life and the residential experience. She began her duties on June 10.
Hummel, who has extensive administrative, teaching and advising experience, comes to Penn College from Lycoming College, where she was associate dean of students. She was director of residential life and conference services at Lycoming prior to that. Hummel has also held positions in residence life at Garrett College, McHenry, Maryland; Frostburg State University, Frostburg, Maryland; and Longwood University, Farmville, Virginia.
She holds a master of education in educational leadership with an emphasis in higher education administration and a bachelor's degree in child development, both from Lynchburg College, Lynchburg, Virginia. She is a graduate of Leadership Lycoming and subsequently served on its operating and curriculum committees.
"Kate's experience and expertise is second-to-none in the field of student affairs; her arrival will enable us to move student life forward in innovative and exciting ways," said Jennifer McLean, dean of students, according to a news release. "Kate not only brings a record of significant accomplishment across multiple areas of student life, but also a spirit and sensibility that will further advance our strategic mission to support students in reaching their potential - both in and out of the classroom."
Hummel is the recipient of the Pivot Award from Lycoming College and the Blue & Gold Leadership Award..
