Dealership owner says retirement not in sight

Blaise Alexander, the owner and operator of car dealerships in North Central Pennsylvania for 45 years currently has no plan of retirement.

Alexander, a news release said, enjoys running meetings with management, working side by side with employees, and managing the weekly auto auction at Blaise Alexander Auto Auction in Montoursville.

“Blaise still finds time to play some golf and enjoy family time on Keuka Lake in New York,” the news release said. “He says working with his two sons, Adam and Aubrey, is incredibly rewarding to him. Whether planning construction of new dealerships or updating and remodeling current locations, he finds the time spent with his sons to be priceless.”

One of Alexander’s earliest memories is attending used car auctions as an 8-year-old with his father, Aubrey. The auctions were often held in venues that also auctioned cattle and he fondly remembers playing with the cattle as his father purchased cars. His father, Aubrey Alexander was the owner of a used car dealership, Alexander and Sons in Atlas, Pennsylvania.

Blaise worked for his father to earn the tuition to attend Indiana Institute of Technology in Fort Wayne, Indiana.

With his eyes set on becoming a Chevrolet dealer, he worked for Stocker Chevrolet in State College for 10 years. Alexander purchased his first dealership in 1980.

“The purchase of that Chevrolet dealership in Montoursville was the first of many professional goals he has accomplished over the past 45 years,” the news release said. “Mr. Alexander sold his house, cars, borrowed money from family, and took out a loan against the assets of the dealership to pay for his first dealership. He remembers the early days in the dealership as lonely. He and one salesman ran the dealership and customers were sparse. As the economy improved so did business at the dealership.”

The Blaise Alexander Family Dealerships now have 18 locations in North Central Pennsylvania and plan to continue growing the business with additional locations in the future. His auto group ranks number 106 on Automotive News’ list of the top 150 dealership groups in the U.S. The Blaise Alexander Family Dealerships sold 20,350 new and used vehicles in 2024.

“Blaise understands the importance of hiring good employees and treating them like family,” the news release said. “He values his staff’s dedication to making the dealerships successful.”
