2 join board of directors for Loyalsock Foundation
Loyalsock Foundation recently announced the addition of local leaders John Yonkin and Jean Ruhf to its board of directors, further strengthening the organization’s leadership as it works to build The Summit: Center for Wellness in Sullivan County, a news release said.
Together, Yonkin and Ruhf bring decades of experience in healthcare leadership, strategic planning, tourism, marketing, community engagement, and organizational development to Loyalsock Foundation.
John Yonkin served as a commissioned officer in both the active duty U.S. Army and the U.S. Army Reserve. He advises and coaches the CEOs of several high-growth companies, providing strategic counsel on leadership, innovation, and business growth. He also has volunteered extensively in fire and rescue services, and remains active as a certified flight instructor and commercial UAV pilot.
Yonkin said he was drawn to the mission of The Summit: Center for Wellness because of its potential to improve both physical and mental well-being while strengthening community connections.
“I’m especially inspired by the balance between outdoor natural spaces and indoor wellness resources. That combination creates an inclusive environment where people of all ages and abilities can find something that supports their well-being. It’s not just about fitness – it’s about quality of life, connection, and creating a place that people feel better because it exists,” Yonkin said, according to the news release.
Jean Ruhf, recently retired executive director of the Endless Mountains Visitors Bureau, also joins the Board bringing extensive experience in tourism, marketing, event planning, and regional promotion. A graduate of Penn State University with a degree in Business Management and Marketing, Ruhf has dedicated her career to strengthening communities and promoting the assets of Northeastern Pennsylvania.
As executive director of the Endless Mountains Visitors Bureau, Ruhf helped position the region as a top-tier destination for outdoor recreation, small-town experiences, and heritage tourism. She served numerous regional organizations, including the Pennsylvania Route 6 Tourism Association, Pennsylvania Restaurant and Lodging Association, Endless Mountains Heritage Association, and the Northern Tier Regional Planning and Development Commission’s Rural Transportation Advisory Committee.
“Jean’s passion for the Endless Mountains, as well as her creativity and expertise in regional development and tourism, will be invaluable as the trek to The Summit continues,” the news release said. “Loyalsock Foundation is excited to have these outstanding community leaders join the board of directors and looks forward to continued growth and progress.”
