Three new Board members were appointed at a recent meeting of the Pennsylvania College of Technology Board of Directors.
The new appointees were approved by the Corporation for Penn State. Penn College is a special mission affiliate of Penn State with its own board of directors, president, curriculum and accreditation, according to a news release from the college.
The new Penn College Board members are Robert Fenza, a member of the Penn State Board of Trustees; Ken Healy, executive vice president and director of engineering for PMF Industries Inc.; and Tracie L. Witter, key account manager for PPL Electric Utilities.
Fenza has served on the Penn State Board of Trustees since 2015, representing business and industry, and chaired its Finance, Business and Capital Planning Committee as well as its Real Estate Task Force. He retired from his position as chief operating officer for Liberty Property Trust, a national real estate investment trust, in 2015. He has chaired and served on many nonprofit boards and raises Texas longhorn cattle on his farm in the Brandywine Valley. He holds a bachelor's degree from Penn State in architecture and real estate and was honored with membership in the university's Society of Distinguished Alumni.
Healy is a seasoned manufacturing leader. With his wife, he co-founded the Ken and Kristie Healy Foundation to support organizations that positively impact the region, including support of several facilities on Penn College's campus: The Market at Le Jeune Chef, the Baja Room, and the Invent Penn State Williamsport LaunchBox. He also volunteers on several boards in the community and at the college. He is second vice chairperson of the Penn College Foundation Board of Directors and a member of the college's President's Leadership Council and Automated Manufacturing & Machining Advisory Committee.
He holds a bachelor's degree from Penn College in manufacturing engineering technology and an associate degree in engineering drafting technology.
In her nine years with PPL Electric Utilities, Witter has served in regional affairs, communications and now key accounts. Prior to joining PPL, she worked in corporate communications for UPMC in Williamsport. She has also been an adjunct instructor at Lycoming College. She serves on the United Way of Pennsylvania Board of Directors, Geisinger Muncy Valley Hospital's community advisory board and the Women's Energy Network Susquehanna Valley. She holds a bachelor's degree from Dickinson College and a master's degree in strategic communication from Seton Hall University.
Also during the meeting, John M. Young, who has served the college in various volunteer positions for 40 years, including more than 20 years on the Board of Directors, was granted director emeritus status by the board. Young retired from the position in June.
Young was a Board of Trustees member for Penn College's immediate predecessor, Williamsport Area Community College, from 1987-89, and was chair of the board in 1989 when the college pursued affiliation with Penn State to become Pennsylvania College of Technology.
He was appointed to the Penn College Board of Directors in 2004, serving as vice chair from 2008-12.
He has served on the Penn College Foundation Board of Directors since 1999 and was a member of the college's former Corporate Advisory Board.
Young and his late wife, Sue, established scholarships at Penn College and Penn State in the name of Young's father, Henry T. Young, who founded Young Industries in 1947. They also initiated, in Sue Young's name, the first scholarship at Penn State for the Lady Lions basketball team. They are members of the Visionary Society (100,000-499,999) on Penn College's Donor Wall.
