Ever thought of going back to school to get your high school equivalency/GED?
From now through Oct. 3, The Learning Center is giving away free GED practice tests to all students who come into the center.
After Oct. 3, there will be a cost for the test. The See for Free program, available for a limited time from the GED Testing Service, helps students pass the GED test.
Students who take GED Ready can see for free:
If they’re ready to pass the GED test.
The skills they need to work on to pass the test.
A personalized study plan detailing pages and chapters to study in their favorite study books.
The GED test has opened doors to better jobs and college programs for more than 19 million graduates since 1942. Last year, nearly 800,000 adults sat for the GED test, which is accepted by virtually all U.S. colleges and employers.
As the creator of the one official GED test, GED Testing Service has a responsibility to ensure that the program continues to be a reliable and valuable pathway to a better life for the millions of adults without a high school diploma.
Students can also learn about classes and other resources to help them prepare for the GED test.

The Learning Center is an adult basic education provider that works to equip Lycoming County adults with the basic literacy skills they need to be better family members, workers and community members. It is a service of the Lycoming County Library System and partner agency of the Lycoming County United Way.
The Learning Center is located at 19 E. Fourth St., on the third floor of the Welch Children’s Wing at the James V. Brown Library.
Services are free and include one-on-one tutoring, small group studies, math and writing assistance, a comprehensive computer lab, family literacy programs, English as a second language and workplace skills programs.
The students in the class meet daily from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., depending on the skills with which they need assistance.
Students are taught by Linda Herr, literacy program coordinator, and Rob Getz, adult education instructor.
