Lycoming College has been recognized as one of the top liberal arts colleges in the country, by the prestigious Annapolis Group of Liberal Arts Colleges.
"During the past academic year as our campus community pivoted through a global pandemic, we did not abandon the College's mission, which is to deliver a residential liberal arts education. Our success reaffirmed our commitment to deepening and strengthening our identity as one of the best residential liberal arts colleges of the 21st century," said Dr. Kent C. Trachte, president.
The Annapolis Group of Liberal Arts Colleges is said to have roughly 100 members.
Proving to share the group's values of compassion, effective communication, commitment to civic responsibility, creative meaning, insightfulness and more, Lycoming College was chosen amongst a number of other applicants to be recognized as a leading liberal arts college.
"The history of Lycoming College is one of moving to higher excellence in more than a 200 year period. And as an academy in Williamsport, it has now achieved the highest status of being in this category of being national liberal arts colleges. When we started our 2014 strategic plan, we were recognized as a liberal arts college, but not one of the best," said Trachte.
"This is recognition by our peers within higher education that Lycoming has achieved the status as being one of the very best liberal arts colleges in the country," said Trachte.
Lycoming College is now welcomed by The Annapolis Group to participate in a collaborative forum where the member institutions share ideas, best practices, values, and advance innovations in learning.
