Penn College to add Bachelor of Architecture degree

By Pat Crossley 1 min read

The Pennsylvania College of Technology will begin accepting students in a new Bachelor of Architecture degree program in 2023, if not sooner, following approval by the college Board of Trustees.

The addition of the new major, which adds a fifth year to the current bachelor's degree framework, the path to professional licensure for graduates will be shortened and will also increase their employment opportunities, according to information from the college.

With the approval of the degree by the board, the Construction and Architectural Technologies Division can pursue accreditation from the National Architectural Accrediting Board. If accreditation is granted, students who would typically pursue post graduate work at another institution to get an accredited Master of Architecture degree will now be able to spend one extra year at Penn College and get an NAAB-accredited degree.

"It's a tremendous step forward for us, said Geoffrey M. Campbell, assistant professor and department head, who presented the proposal to the board with Ellyn A. Lester, assistant dean of construction and architectural technologies.
