Jersey Shore October Students of the Month
Jersey Shore Area High School selects two seniors each month to honor as students of the month. For the month of October, Cale Edwards Fazler, Lions Club Student of the Month and Grace Leigh Welshans, Business and Professional Women’s Organization Student of the Month, have been chosen to be acknowledged for their work in and out of the classroom.
Cale Edwards Fazler, the son of Glen Fazler and Lynne Force of Rauchtown and Jersey Shore, is a four-year member of the Future Business Leaders of America and track and field. He has participated in cross country since his sophomore year, and was inducted into the National Business Honor Society during his junior year. In 11th grade, Cale was elected the FBLA Treasurer and President of FBLA his 12th grade year. He assisted in the 2021-2022 #WeShoreCare project, a food drive for the Love Center in Jersey Shore, where he was one of two treasurers in charge of financials for the club as well as project promotions. In 10th grade, Cale placed 2nd in FBLA Regionals for Accounting 2, qualifying him for states, and in 11th grade, he placed 3rd place for Business Law at FBLA Regionals, also qualifying him for state. Cale has lettered in both cross country and track and field. Outside of school, Cale has been employed at Waltz Creamery and Farmhouse Café since his sophomore year. He assists in teaching and working with children at his church during vacation bible school. In addition, Cale enjoys hanging out with family and friends, helping others, riding bikes, serving customers at work, playing video games and running. In the future, Cale plans on attending college at either Bloomsburg University or Pennsylvania College of Technology to major in accounting/business administration.
Grace Leigh Welshans, the daughter of Tonya and Tyson Welshans of Jersey Shore, is a four-year member of the varsity soccer team and school musical. Grace was chosen as the varsity soccer captain in both her junior and senior years. She has also participated in chorus, student council, Youth Development Task Force, and has been inducted into both the National Art Honor Society and National Honor Society. In 12th grade, Grace was elected vice president for National Art Honor Society and secretary for the senior class. Outside of school, Grace has participated at the Millbrook Playhouse for seven years. She is involved in her church choir, and was chosen to represent Jersey Shore this year at Flaming Foliage Festival. Grace enjoys baking, singing and doing art in her free time. After high school, she plans on attending college for early childhood education.
