Salladasburg hosts ‘Games with Grandparents’ event
Salladasburg Elementary School recently hosted an event for their students and their grandparents.
The school invited grandparents to come into the school during the day and play board games with their grandchildren. This was a wonderful opportunity for the district to hold an event supporting the value of community and family, which not all students get to experience regularly.
The students who did not have family members able to attend, joined in with their classmates and their grandparents to enjoy the games. Smaller outlying schools like Salladasburg Elementary, which is part of the Jersey Shore Area School District, benefit during events like this from their size.
They had over 200 grandparents or other family members show up to support their children, which is over 85% of the student population’s family. Those two hours of game-playing emphasized life lessons that are not always the focal point of public schools.
