Jersey Shore Area High School February Students of the Month
Jersey Shore Area High School selects two seniors each month to acknowledge as students of the month. For the month of February, Owen Elwood Farr, Lion’s Club Student of the Month; and Breanna Rose Corlew, Business and Professional Women’s Student of the Month have been selected to be acknowledged.
Owen Elwood Farr, the son of Brenda and Bill Farr, is a four-year member of the varsity soccer team, where he has lettered each season. In his senior year, he was named captain, according to the news release. Owen was also on the track team during his freshman year. Owen is a member of the Future Business Leaders of America and participated in outdoor club and Mock Trial in his freshman and senior years. He also earned honor roll or distinguished honor roll during his high school career. Outside of school, Owen enjoys flying planes. He flew his first solo flight at age 16 and has earned scholarships to college for flying. Owen works at Bald Birds in the evenings and weekends. He previously was employed at Jersey Shore Hospital and Ettinger’s Landscaping in Montoursville. Owen volunteers at the Little League World Series and at the Williamsport Regional Airport. He enjoys skiing, hunting, traveling, flying and attending country music concerts. Following graduation, Owen will be attending Embry Riddle Aeronautical University in Prescott, Arizona to major in aeronautical science with the goal of eventually becoming an airline pilot.
Breanna Rose Corlew, the daughter of Melissa and Daniel Corlew, is a four-year member of the tennis team, Key club, Constitutional Convention (Con-Con) and Model U.N. In her freshman year, Breanna was on the Lady Dawgs softball team and a writer for the Paw Print. Breanna has been a member of Youth Development Task Force (YDTF) for three years, National Spanish Honors Society for two years and National English Honors Society for two years. As a member of Key club, Breanna has held officer positions since her 10th grade year including webmaster during her 10th grade year, secretary during her 11th grade year and is the current president. She is also currently president of the National English Honors Society. Breanna was recognized with the “Superior Delegate Award” for both Con-Con and Model U.N. Outside of school, Breanna is a member of the Girl Scouts where she has earned her Bronze and Silver Award. She is currently working on obtaining her Gold Award. Breanna can be found umpiring Little League games locally, hiking, reading, and kayaking in her free time. After graduation, Breanna will be attending college for English.
