Jersey Shore Area High School April Students of the Month

Each month, Jersey Shore Area High School selects two seniors to be honored as students of the month. For the month of April, Connor MJ Griffin, Lion’s Club Student of the Month, and Grace Kathryn Lorson, Business and Professional Women’s Student of the Month, have been acknowledged.

Connor MJ Griffin, the son of Lisa Enders and Brett Griffin, is a four-year member of the Jersey Shore football and baseball teams where he earned his varsity letters for both sports. Connor has been named the team captain of the baseball team his junior and senior years as well as awarded “Pitcher of the Year” and “MVP.” In football, Connor was the recipient of the “Ball Hawk,” “Mr. Clutch,” “Scout Team Player” and leadership awards. He participated in basketball his freshman year. Connor participated in outdoor club all four years of high school and was named the president his senior year. He was on Future Business Leaders of America his freshman, sophomore and junior years where he won first place at districts in computer applications and was nominated to join National Honors Society his senior year. Connor was named the treasurer for class of 2023 in his sophomore, junior and senior years. Every year of his high school career, Connor has received distinguished honor roll with a GPA of 4.0. Connor has had a few jobs while in high school including working with Barry Enders Construction Company and starting his own landscaping company with his father. He has volunteered time within the community including donating books at Santa’s shelter and serving at the local food bank. In his off time, Connor loves to snowboard, fish and hike the woods of Nippenose Valley and Pine Creek. He plays baseball all summer long on a travel ball team. After high school, Connor plans on attending Clarion University in the fall of 2023 to play baseball and major in environmental sciences.

Grace Kathryn Lorson, the daughter of Brenda and Shawn Lorson of Bastress, is a four-year member of the Lady Dawgs softball team and participated for two years on the girls basketball team. In both sports, she was a varsity letter recipient. Grace was selected as a second team all-state outfielder in her junior year. She has been involved in FBLA all four years of high school, as well as the Spanish Honor Society, student council and pep club. At FBLA regionals, Grace placed 2nd in Introduction to Business Procedures in 2021 and third place for introduction to FBLA in 2020. Grace was crowned Homecoming Queen at Jersey Shore High School in the fall of 2022. Outside of school, Grace can be found working at the Oval Country Store. Grace is an active member of her church, Immaculate Conception Parish, where she alter serves, works at parish picnics for Memorial and Labor Day and was nominated for the 2023 Bishop’s Youth Award for Service. She enjoys reading, hunting, fishing, hanging out with friends and family, shopping and playing travel softball. Following high school, Grace plans on attending college to major in physical therapy assistant and play softball.
