Jersey Shore Area High School May Students of the Month

Jersey Shore Area High School selects two seniors each month to acknowledge as students of the month. Nicholas Xavier Bellomo, Lion’s Club Student of the Month, and Tyra Lynn Lorson, Business and Professional Women’s Student of the Month, have been chosen to be acknowledged.

Nicholas Xavier Bellomo, son of David and Kelley Bellomo, is a four-year member of the Jersey Shore varsity soccer team where he has earned his varsity letter each season and was team captain for his senior year. He also lettered in track and field for two years and swimming his freshman year. Nicholas was a State Athlete in track and field in the 4×4, broke the school record in the 4×4, the stadium record in the 4×4, and the Mansfield Stadium record in the men’s 4×4. Nick is involved in many clubs at the high school including Future Business Leaders of America, Red Cross Club, National Honors Society, National English Honors Society, outdoor club, Bible club and Mock Trial. He has earned distinguished honor role for every marking period of high school. Outside of school, Nick can be found within the community serving as an Acolyte for Antes Fort United Methodist or working at Bald Birds. He has volunteered at the Love Center for four years, worked as a part-time landscaper for Jersey Shore Presbyterian, participated in Student Conservation Association and volunteered for the Little League World Series. Nicholas enjoys skiing and snowboarding, weightlifting and spending time with friends and family. After graduation, Nick will be attending Lock Haven University where he will be on the track and field team. He plans on studying psychology with the goal of becoming a police officer.

Tyra Lynn Lorson, the daughter of Tiffany Sullivan and stepdaughter of Dennis Sullivan, was a two-year member of the tennis team and a member of the varsity competitive cheerleading team that attended states her senior year. Tyra was a writer for the school newspaper, “The Pawprint,” a member of Constitutional Convention, Model UN, FBLA and Key club. Tyra has earned distinguished honor roll every semester of her high school career. When she is not in school, Tyra volunteers for community activities at her church, Newberry Church of Christ. Previously, she worked at Eat and Run Catering but has been employed at Wegmans for the past year in the customer service department. Tyra enjoys spending time with her friends, loves to fish and rides four-wheelers with her family. After graduation, Tyra plans to attend Bloomsburg University and major in nursing, eventually specializing in aesthetics.
