Local students advance to state media and design competition
Two local school districts and their students recently participated in the 2023 Virtual Regional Media and Design Competition, hosted by BLaST Intermediate Unit 17.
Middle and High School students throughout the region followed specific guidelines required when choosing one of the six categories: web page design, 3D printing, programming, digital movie, graphic design and logo and animation, according to the news release.
The Media and Design Competition tested the skills of approximately 20 students from the Montgomery Area School District and Williamsport Area School District.
“Although this marks the fourth straight year of this competition being virtual, the teams and their advisors should be very proud of their adaptability and hard work. There’s still a substantial dose of creativity and determination poured into these projects from our students,” said Renee Peluso, coordinator of the Regional Media and Design Competition with IU 17 Division of Technology. “We’re very much looking forward to returning to the in-person experience next year.”

• Second: Catori Hodges — Williamsport Area School District
• Third: Gabriel McNear — Montgomery Area School District
