Loyalsock Township triumphs in Woodlands Bank stock market challenge
Brighter Financial Futures (dba PennCFL) is proud to announce that Karlynn Emerick of Loyalsock Township School District, who worked under the leadership of Heather Pipech, was a winner in the state competition, according to the news release.
The competitions are held in the classroom, both county-wide and statewide. Karlynn finished in second place for Lycoming County and 17th place in the statewide competition.
The program is generously sponsored by Woodlands Bank, according to the release.
Woodlands Bank is a local community bank with headquarters in Williamsport. Woodlands Bank offers consumer and commercial banking and trust services in both Lycoming and Clinton Counties.
The Pennsylvania Council on Financial Literacy (PennCFL) exists to prepare the next generation to rise up.
“We strive to change the future by offering all Pennsylvania students in grades K-12 with personal einance education, a stock market and personal budgeting game, along with entrepreneurship skills that will help them thrive in the workforce and in life,” according to the news release.
PennCFL’s entrepreneurship program, Dream-Learn-Pitch, allows students to learn through their online curriculum, at their entrepreneurship conferences or independently with their teachers. Students can upload their elevator pitch to win prizes up to $10,000 and additionally, up to $40,000 in college scholarships.
