Jersey Shore Area School District September Students of the Month

Jersey Shore Area School District honors two students a month as Students of the Month. Posthumously awarded is Maxwell “Max” Maitland Engle as September’s Lions Club Student of the Month. Adalyn Grace Bower has been awarded the Business and Professional Women’s Student of the Month.

Maxwell “Max” Maitland Engle, is the son of Josh and Heather Engle of Linden. Max was a dedicated member of the varsity football team for all four years, achieving the honor of receiving varsity letters in both his sophomore and junior seasons. In his junior year, he also made a noteworthy contribution to the track and field team and earned another varsity letter. Beyond athletics, Max actively participated in the high school’s outdoor club and construction club. Remarkably, he consistently maintained a position on the honor roll throughout his high school journey.

Outside of his school commitments, Max dedicated six years to mowing lawns for his neighbors, demonstrating his strong work ethic. Recently, he embarked on a part-time job at Antlers on the Water. Max’s deep affinity for nature was evident in his hobbies, as he cherished hunting, trout fishing, hiking and camping during his free time. He also valued quality time with loved ones and friends, often engaging in activities such as playing ping pong and curating exceptional music playlists.

Max was posthumously awarded the Student of the Month by the high school staff with a completed application submitted by his lifelong friends and teammates. Although Max’s next adventure is not what his family thought, they know he is doing greater things than they had hoped. He leaves the Jersey Shore Area School District and community with many memories and the positive sentiment that we should all be “more like Max.”
