Warrior Run September Students of the Month

Warrior Run Jr./Sr. High School selects four seniors each month to honor as students of the month. Lillian Grace Wertz, Outstanding Senior; Alena Blair Shaffer, Turbotville Lions Club Student of the Month; Hailey Alexis Carper, Watsontown Lions Club Student of the Month; and Grant Timothy Welliver, Milton Rotary Club Vocational Student of the Month, have all been selected to be acknowledged for the month of September.

Lillian Grace Wertz, the daughter of Gerald and Crystal Wertz, is the vice president of student council, president of the technology student association, secretary of the National Honor Society, treasurer of DECA, librarian of concert choir and a member of Youth in Philanthropy. Lillian is also a member of St. Andrew's United Methodist Church and a counselor at Northumberland Good News Camp. Throughout her time in high school, Lillian has earned distinguished honor roll, the AP scholar award and the College Board's National Rural and Small Town Award for Academic Achievement. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with family and friends. In the future, she hopes to attend a four-year university to major in engineering.

Alena Blair Shaffer, James and Tricia Shaffer, is a member of the Warrior Run Marching Band, where she is the drum major, and a member of the drama club. She is the vice president of the National Honor Society and a member of student council, DECA, Youth in Philanthropy and Defender PRIDE club. She has participated in the school's plays and musicals. She has earned the AP Scholar Award and the College Board National Rural and Small Town Recognition Award. Through DECA, she has earned second place in the 2023 SCDC School-Based Enterprise and she was a 2023 ICDC qualifier. In her free time, she enjoys reading, playing instruments, listening to music and spending time with family, friends and her two dogs. In the future, she hopes to attend a four-year university, travel the world and live a happy life.

Hailey Alexis Carper, the daughter of Nathaniel and Valerie Carper, is the senior editor of the yearbook, vice president of the National Art Honor Society and a member of the knitting/crochet club. She has won various awards for different categories in the annual art show and is a district medalist for javelin in track and field. Outside of the classroom, Hailey takes pictures at community events and coordinates murals and other artworks in the community. In her free time, she enjoys painting, photography and spending time with family and friends. In the future, she hopes to attend Pennsylvania College of Technology to major in graphic design and minor in marketing. After college, she hopes to get a graphic design job and travel the world.

Grant Timothy Welliver, the son of Timothy and Amy Welliver, is a member of TSA and works at the Fence Drive-In. In his free time, he enjoys being outdoors and fishing. In the future, he hopes to join the Air Force through a reserves program and attend Pennsylvania College of Technology, majoring in construction management.
