Jersey Shore Area High School December Students of the Month

Jersey Shore Area High School selects two seniors each month to acknowledge as students of the month. Matthew Isaiah Fravel, Lions Club Student of the Month, and Jocelyn Margaret McCracken, Business and Professional Women Student of the Month, have been honored for the month of December.

Matthew Isaiah Fravel, the son of Stephen and Daria Fravel, is a four-year member of the tennis team, one-year member of the football team and has participated in an array of extracurricular activities. Excelling in Model UN, Constitutional Convention for subsequent years, Mock Trial for one year and serves as an office in FBLA and Skills USA, Matt’s dedication is evident. Notably, he has received numerous awards, including first place at FBLA Regionals for Client Service and ninth place at FBLA States. He also is an avid member of National Art Honor Society and vice president for the National Math Honor Society, demonstrating his commitment to academic organizations. Matt also serves as the class historian for the Class of 2024. Matt has actively contributed to the community, volunteering and coaching youth basketball for two years. His work experiences at Subway for over a year and Tiadaghton Embroidery for nearly two years, along with internships at Drone Geek Productions, showcasing his commitment to both employment and skill development. As Matt prepares to graduate, his aspirations lie in attending college for film and video production, with a minor in communications, choosing among four universities. In his free time, Matt enjoys videography, photography and a range of sports.

Jocelyn Margaret McCracken, the daughter of Margaret and James McCracken, is a very active individual in school activities as well as extracurricular. Jocelyn has played basketball all four years of high school, lettering in all four seasons. She has also played varsity softball for four years and lettered all four seasons. Jocelyn was named first Team All-State in her junior year season of softball. She has been on the golf team 10th through 12th grade and has lettered all seasons. Jocelyn has been the Class of 2024’s class president since freshman year. All four years of high school, Jocelyn has been an active member of FBLA where she held the position of junior vice president and social media manager her junior year. She currently holds the position of FBLA president. She has been involved in outdoor club and National English Honors Society all four years of high school and held the position of outdoor club secretary her junior year. During her senior year, Jocelyn is vice president for outdoor club. Currently, Jocelyn is the vice president of National English Honors Society. During her junior year, Jocelyn was inducted into the National Honors Society and is still a member her senior year. Outside of school, Jocelyn tutors a fifth-grade student on her free time and has volunteered numerous times at The New Love Center. Jocelyn has been awarded the Lioness Student of the Month her freshman year, second place in accounting at FBLA regionals in 2022, and she has been on the distinguished honor roll every school year. Some of Jocelyn’s hobbies outside of school include spending time with her family and friends, hiking and hunting. After graduation, Jocelyn’s plans are to attend college to major in accounting or finance.
