Montoursville Area High School recognized their April Students of the Month. Myken Barnes and Madison Labatch are the Warrensville Lions Club Students of the Month. Evan Bloom and Katelyn Good are the Montoursville Lions Club Students of the Month.
Myken Barnes, son of Jill and Tim Barnes, is a member of the tennis team, Physics Club, and FFA. He is also a volunteer at the American Legion Post 104 and participates with ABF — Lycoming Angler’s for a Brighter Future, which Barnes co-founded to take kids fishing and teaches them how to fish. After high school, Barnes plans to attend Mansfield University for environmental science.
Madison Labatch, daughter of Robert and Melissa Labatch, is treasurer of the Science National Honor Society, social media and business manager of the school’s media The Arrowhead, and a member of the golf and basketball teams, as well as National Honor Society, Key Club, Rho Kappa, National English Honor Society, Mu Alpha Theta and Quill & Scroll Honor Society. She also volunteers with Hope Enterprises. After high school, Labatch plans to attend Marywood University to major in elementary education and play basketball.
Evan Bloom, son of Coral Bloom and Robert Vanderwall, is captain of both the wrestling and football teams. He was named to 1st team ALL-PHAC. Bloom also coaches youth football and wrestling and volunteers for the Pennsylvania Wounded Warriors, Inc. After high school, Bloom plans to go into the Army National Guard and play football at Albright University while studying criminal justice.
Katelyn Good, daughter of Brett and Lisa Good, is captain of the tennis team, sports editor of the Arrowhead, leader of the Bible Study Club, founder of the Volleyball Club, and a member of National Honor Society and the basketball and softball teams. She is also a Vacation Bible Study crew leader, Upward Bound Basketball counselor and coach, Sunday school helper, and has taken part of Faith Student Ministries, Faith United Methodist Church Worship Design Retreat, Bag Packing Program and helping the middle school students with homework through the Homework Club. After high school, Good plans to attend Messiah University and major in psychology.
