Each year, the Lycoming Chapter Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) presents commencement awards to area high school seniors with the highest average.
The Anne Perley American history award goes to a senior at Williamsport Area High School, honoring the chapter's 4th Regent Anne Perley from Williamsport, who was also a state regent and a vice president general at the national level of the society.
The chapter also presents an American History award to seven other schools in the county, with the same criteria. All students receive a monetary award from the chapter.
The 2024 recipient of the Anne Perley American History award was Jack Heller, Williamsport Area High School.
