Jersey Shore names students of the month for April

Jersey Shore Senior High School is pleased to announce Janelle Evans as the April 2025 Business and Professional Women’s Student of the Month.

The daughter of Jamie and Jeremy Evans of Jersey Shore, Janelle has demonstrated a well-rounded commitment to academics, extracurricular involvement, leadership, and service throughout her high school career.

Janelle has been an active member of the cheerleading team throughout high school, earning a varsity letter for her dedication. In addition to athletics, Janelle has been an active member of numerous organizations including the National Honor Society, National English Honor Society, and Model UN. She has also proven her leadership skills as the Treasurer of Mock Trial, all while being recognized as a consistent member of the distinguished honor roll.

Her service extends into the community as well. Janelle worked at Little Caesar’s in Mill Hall for two years. She’s also volunteered at community events including the local food pantry and served the community annually during the Pickup PA trip. These experiences reflect her compassion and commitment to helping others.

Outside of her school and work responsibilities, Janelle enjoys shopping, traveling, baking, and spending time with family and friends. After graduation, she plans to attend Kutztown University to pursue a degree in biology: pre-med, with hopes of one day becoming an oncologist.

The Lions Club of Jersey Shore is proud to announce Landon Chappel, a senior at Jersey Shore High School, as the Student of the Month for April 2025.

This prestigious recognition is awarded to students who demonstrate exemplary character, leadership, and dedication to their school and community.

Landon is the son of Travis and Jodie Chappel. He has been an active participant in various school activities throughout his high school years. He distinguished himself as a consistent and talented athlete on the varsity soccer team, earning letters for three consecutive years — freshman, sophomore, and junior year.

In addition to soccer, Landon has also been involved in track and field, golf, and is a member of the school’s Outdoor Club and Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA).

Outside of school, Landon has contributed to his community through several volunteer efforts. He has assisted with church picnics, volunteered at the food bank, and helped maintain local walking trails, demonstrating his commitment to service.

Despite not holding formal leadership positions, Landon’s involvement and strong work ethic exemplify the spirit of teamwork and collaboration.

As a distinguished honor roll student, Landon has maintained excellent academic performance throughout his high school career.

In his free time, Landon enjoys a variety of outdoor activities, including fly fishing, hunting, and skiing. He values spending time with family and friends, creating lasting memories and connections.

Looking ahead, Landon plans to pursue an apprenticeship to become an electrician after high school and hopes to enter the workforce directly thereafter.

His practical approach to education and commitment to pursuing a skilled trade will undoubtedly serve him well in his future endeavors.
