Jersey Shore High School, Lions Club announce students of the month

Abigail Chatham Simcox, daughter of Sean and Neva Simcox of Jersey Shore, has been named the October 2025 Lions Club Student of the Month at Jersey Shore Area High School.

Abigail is a dedicated student and active member of the school community, participating in a wide range of clubs and activities throughout her high school career.

She has been involved in cheerleading all four years and is also a committed member of the Bocce team and the Better Together Club, where she has served as Vice President for the past three years. In addition, Abigail contributes her time and leadership to the Dawg Pound Coffee Shop and is part of the EXPLORE program, further enriching her educational experience.

Outside of school, Abigail is heavily involved in 4-H, where she has participated as an equestrian and served as treasurer for two years. She also volunteers at the Penn College Preschool during the summers, supporting early childhood programs and gaining valuable experience working with young children.

Abigail has been recognized for her academic achievements through her induction into the National Honor Society. She has earned a varsity letter in Bocce for two years and was selected to represent Jersey Shore at the Special Olympics Leadership Conference for two consecutive years–an honor that highlights her compassion, strong character, and leadership skills.

In her free time, Abigail enjoys running, horseback riding, and going out to eat with family and friends. After graduation, Abigail plans to continue her training and pursue a career in the food service industry.

Jersey Shore Senior High School proudly announces Makayla Renee Wrench as the October 2025 Business and Professional Women’s Student of the Month. The daughter of Beth and Barry Wrench of Jersey Shore, Makayla has distinguished herself through academic excellence, strong leadership, and dedicated involvement in school and community activities.

Throughout her high school career, Makayla has been an active and accomplished member of numerous organizations. She has participated in FBLA, the Homecoming Committee, English Honor Society, Math Honor Society, Spanish Honor Society, National Honor Society, swimming, and softball.

Her leadership in FBLA is especially noteworthy–she served as sophomore vice president in 10th grade and as president during both her junior and senior years. Makayla has also earned multiple varsity letters, including three in softball and two in swimming. Her achievements in FBLA competition include placing fifth in the region for Accounting I and 3rd in the region for Business Law.

Makayla’s dedication extends beyond the classroom. She works as a lifeguard at the Jersey Shore Pool and volunteers in the children’s ministry at Crossroads Church. Her commitment to service and the community is evident through both her volunteer efforts and her willingness to take on leadership roles that benefit her school and peers.

Outside of school, Makayla enjoys spending time with her family and friends, shopping, and reading. After graduation, she plans to attend Susquehanna University to major in accounting, where she hopes to continue building the strong academic foundation she has established.
