Jersey Shore announces students of the month of April

Mya Alyssa Lehman, daughter of Amber and Steve Lehman, has been selected as the April Business and Professional Women Student of the Month at Jersey Shore Area Senior High School. Mya is recognized for her leadership, creativity, service, and strong involvement throughout her high school career.
Mya has been highly active in athletics and student organizations. She participated in basketball during her freshman, sophomore, and senior years and played softball all four years. She has also been involved in Student Council all four years, serving as Vice President during her junior year and President during her senior year. In addition, she has participated in FBLA, Constitutional Convention, Homecoming Committee, Key Club, Outdoor Club, Bocce, Tennis, YDTF, and Red Cross. Mya also contributed to the Orange and Black yearbook staff for three years and serves as an editor her senior year. She participated in Prom Committee decorations during her junior year.
Academically, Mya is a member of the National Honor Society, as well as the National Art, English, and Spanish Honor Societies. She has received the “Most Creative” Award from Key Club and earned recognition from the Art Department for her participation in art camp. She also represented the school during Art Youth Month and has worked the school showcases.
Mya’s commitment to service extends beyond school. She participated in a church missionary trip to Cleveland, Ohio, volunteers in a church nursery and youth group, serves at the Love Center, and has painted murals for veterans.
In her free time, Mya enjoys painting, gardening, canning food, hiking, playing travel softball in the summer, and working on creative projects that support children and the community.

After graduation, Mya plans to enlist in the military to serve her country for several years. Following her service, she hopes to pursue a career as a travel photographer, inspired by Alexandra Hallman.
Rees Rhiann Bierly, daughter of Charlotte Bierly and Scoot Bierly, has been selected as the April Lions Club Student of the Month at Jersey Shore Area Senior High School. Rees is recognized for her athletic achievement, leadership, and commitment to school and community involvement.
Throughout high school, Rees has been actively involved in numerous activities. As a freshman, she participated in Band, Marching Band, Musical, Soccer, Swim, Chorus, Homecoming Committee, and Prom Committee. During her sophomore year, she continued soccer and chorus while remaining involved in Homecoming Committee, Prom Committee, and Key Club. In her junior year, she served as Soccer Captain and became a member of the National Honor Society and National Art Honor Society, while continuing her involvement in Homecoming Committee, Prom Committee, and Key Club. As a senior, she remains Soccer Captain and is active in National Honor Society, National English Honor Society, National Art Honor Society, National Spanish Honor Society, Key Club, Pep Club, and Red Cross Club.
Rees has served as Girls Soccer Captain during her junior and senior years and has lettered in girls soccer all four years. She was also selected to represent Jersey Shore at Flaming Foliage in October, an honor recognizing outstanding students.
Outside of school, Rees plays volleyball weekly with her local church, and babysits for local families and community members.
In her free time, Rees enjoys hiking, creating art, playing soccer and volleyball, fishing, and swimming. After graduation, she plans to attend Pennsylvania College of Technology to pursue a degree in Dental Hygiene.
