LHU holds Lavender Graduation ceremony

LOCK HAVEN — Lock Haven University recently held its Lavender Graduation event honoring two fall graduates, Hunter Swartz, of Jersey Shore and Alexis Gallagher, of Scranton. Lavender Graduation is a nationwide event that celebrates the academic achievements of LGBTQA students and allies. Bucknell researchers ‘step up’ to find new plant species

LEWISBURG — Bucknell University biology postdoctoral fellow Tanisha Williams and Professor Chris Martine led a collaborative team of botany scientists from the U.S. and Australia who have found and named a undocumented Australian bush tomato species from the remote Outback. The botanists were able to collect numerous new specimens of the plant, which was hiding in plain sight along a steep trail, from the Garrarnawun Lookout in Judbarra National Park. First-year students investigate gender disparities in comedy

For Lycoming College’s 2022 fall semester, the first-year seminar, “Are Women Funny?,” was offered to incoming first-year students. Created and taught by Shanin Dougherty, associate director of career and professional development, the course provided students with an overview of comedy created and performed by women through text and visual media as well as why the idea of funny women continues to be a polarizing topic.
