BLOSSBURG -- During this year's V.I.B.E. Fall Festival, Laurel Health was recognized by local, county and state officials for decades of serving the local community. Commendations were awarded by the offices of Sen. Gene Yaw, R-Loyalsock Township, and Rep. Clint Owlett, R-Liberty.
Laurel Health staff, leadership and board members came together for a fun day of health outreach to celebrate 50 years of delivering health care. The team provided free health screenings, community flu shots, special anniversary giveaways, and a provider meet-and-greet with Tina Doud-Kearns, CRNP, at the Blossburg Laurel Health Center, 6 Riverside Plaza, Blossburg.
The Laurel Health Centers were founded to assure patients had access to great care close to home following the closure of the Blossburg hospital. Its primary care centers were strategically placed throughout Tioga County to assure no one had to drive more than 30 minutes for family medicine services. Over the the past five decades, Laurel Health gradually expanded services and locations to provide convenient, wide-ranging care to even more patients in the twin tiers region of northcentral Pennsylvania and lower New York. The system now has 14 locations throughout Tioga and Bradford Counties offering primary care, dental care, mental health, walk-in care, pediatrics, nutrition and diabetes education, and specialty care like chiropractic and sports medicine services.
"A lot has changed over the last 50 years, but one thing that has not is Laurel Health's steadfast commitment to patients," said James A. Nobles, president and CEO of the Laurel Health Centers. "Laurel Health has continued to flourish by placing patients first, employing excellent staff, addressing community needs, and guiding our mission, vision, and values with an open and committed heart. We are very grateful to our community for their trust and support over the last 50 years. Together, we remain focused on delivering excellent care to everyone, nurturing community wellness and building healthier tomorrows."
