UPMC support staff honored with BEE awards
Mitra Debloois, CNA, Muncy Place, part of UPMC Senior Communities in North Central Pa., Theresa Smith, food service host, UPMC Muncy, and Tiffny Mitchell, patient care technician, ICU, UPMC Williamsport, were recently recognized with the BEE Award for their outstanding support of nursing teams.
The BEE Award, meaning Be Extraordinary Every Day, recognizes the care team that supports nursing staff and works closely with them to provide patients with the compassion and care they need.
Mitra was nominated by a former resident who shared:
“Mitra is efficient and knows what she is doing. She thinks outside of the box and is an expert at applying my back brace, so it is not too loose or too tight. I have had 20 different, and great CNAs, but Mitra has the best and most positive attitude. When she sees a task, she is prepared prior to coming into the room. It’s a tough job, but she is an excellent caregiver. One morning I wasn’t feeling well, and she recognized it right away and immediately took me out to the nurse’s station to be monitored more closely. I am impressed by her calmness during the morning madness. I would give Muncy Place a five-star rating and part of that is due to Mitra’s awesome care.”
Theresa was nominated by a co-worker who shared:
“Theresa truly focuses on serving the patient. She advocates for patients’ dietary needs, working closely with the nutrition team to accommodate special requests and dietary restrictions, ensuring that each patient receives meals that align with their health requirements. Theresa provides dignity and respect for everyone she serves and encounters. She always approaches patients with a warm and friendly demeanor, making meal service a positive experience. Her respectful interactions with patients and staff foster a supportive and caring environment.”
Tiffny was nominated by a patient’s family member who shared:
“Tiffny took the time to find a wheelchair for my husband to take him outside for some fresh air. For my husband, it was a big deal, but for Tiffny, it’s just what she does. She sees the patient, hears the patient, and gives her all to make their stay as pleasant as possible. She really clicked with both me and my husband and for that, I’m truly grateful.”
