‘The vibe is fantastic’: 5K walk/run and Ceiliuradh to support cancer patients slated for March 15

Justin Flannery Hilton was a local man diagnosed in 2008 with stage 4 colorectal cancer that would metastasize to his liver. He passed away five years later at the age of 29.
Despite his diagnosis, Justin lived a full life — coaching basketball, owning a home and sharing a loving marriage.
Seventeen years later, his friends and family continue to honor his memory through K’s for Cancer, a nonprofit that financially supports Lycoming County residents undergoing treatment for cancer through efforts such as distributing Weis and Sheetz gift cards.
The nonprofit will host their annual fundraiser — the Justin Flannery Hilton Leprechaun Run 5K and Ceiliúradh, an Irish food and beer festival, at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, March 15, starting at the Williamsport/Lycoming Chamber of Commerce.
Justin’s sister, Jamie Hilton, a pediatric nurse and volunteer with K’s for Cancer, shared more about the nonprofit’s mission.
“[Justin’s] best friend, Eric Shaner, started everything in Greencastle, Pa. Our family and friends expanded the charity locally to continue to help cancer patients and their families,” she said.
“Through the incredible help of local businesses, yearly golf tournaments and 5Ks and other events, we have been able to keep [the nonprofit] going for 12 years,” Hilton said.
She emphasized that all donations remain within Lycoming County.
Having been affected personally and professionally by cancer, Hilton offers thoughts on how to support those experiencing illness.
“Cancer is a different experience for everyone, whether they are the patient or not,” said Hilton. Offering support and listening, she said, are valuable.
K’s for Cancer provides financial assistance to any cancer patient or family residing in Lycoming County.
“As of the end of 2024, we have donated $350,000 in gift cards, helping over 1,000 families in Lycoming County,” Hilton said.
The organization raises the bulk of its funds through two major annual events: the Justin Flannery Hilton Leprechaun Run 5K and Ceiliúradh in March and the Justin Flannery Hilton Memorial Golf Tournament, held on the first Friday of August.
Hilton highlighted several unique features of the 2025 Leprechaun Run 5K and Ceiliúradh.
“The Ceiliuradh is an Irish beer and food festival,” she said. “We have 20 local vendors from breweries, distilleries and restaurants providing samples of their amazing products and food.”
She is also excited by the event returning to downtown Williamsport, in the Williamsport Chamber of Commerce building.
“The vibe is fantastic and I look forward to this event every year,” said Hilton.
