UPMC Muncy donates emergency response backpacks to state police

MUNCY — UPMC Muncy has donated six emergency response backpacks to support the safety and preparedness of cadets participating in the Pennsylvania State Police Law & Leadership Academy.

Each emergency response backpack donated includes essential medical and first-response supplies, such as first aid kits, CPR masks, instant ice packs, feminine hygiene products, and diabetic emergency supplies, including glucose tablets.

“At UPMC, our mission is rooted in caring for our communities, and that includes supporting safety, education, and those who serve across the commonwealth,” said Andrea Reed, president, UPMC Muncy. “We’re proud to contribute to the Pennsylvania State Police Law & Leadership Academy and help ensure cadets and staff have the resources they need to train safely.”

The backpacks will be distributed across the academy’s six locations statewide — Erie, Greensburg, State College, Wilkes-Barre, Hershey, and Philadelphia — and will be used by First Aid-trained staff to respond quickly to minor injuries or medical situations during academy activities.

Modeled after the Pennsylvania State Police Academy, the Law & Leadership Academy is a free program designed for individuals interested in pursuing a career in law enforcement or gaining a deeper understanding of the profession. The program emphasizes leadership development, physical training, teamwork, and classroom instruction in areas such as criminal investigations, traffic enforcement, and professional ethics, while also strengthening relationships between law enforcement and the communities they serve.

The donation reflects UPMC’s ongoing commitment to community health, education, and public safety initiatives across Pennsylvania.

Starting at $2.99/week.
