Programs planned at both Little Pine and Hyner Run

WATERVILLE — On Thursday at 1 p.m. at Little Pine State Park there will be a program on the “Birds of Little Pine.” This program is aimed for families with children.

During this program, there will be an introduction into the sport of birdwatching, a story, and also an investigation. All children must be accompanied by an adult in order to participate. Program may be modified or cancelled in the event of severe weather or new CDC Guidelines. Those interested should meet at Pavilion 2.

On Friday at 7:30 p.m. at Little Pine State Park there will be a program called “The Dam, the Reservoir, and Little Pine.” This year is the 50th anniversary of when Tropical Storm Agnes hit Pennsylvania.

Join the park staff to learn about the impact Agnes had at Little Pine State Park and also about the history and benefit of the flood control dam. All children must be accompanied by an adult in order to participate. Program may be modified or cancelled in the event of severe weather or new CDC Guidelines. Meet at the kiosk at the top of the dam.

There are also programs upcoming at Hyner Run State Park. On Friday at 4 p.m. at Hyner Run State Park, join the park educator to learn more about “Black Bears” in Pennsylvania. Topics will include adaptations, diet, and a brief overview of the natural history of the black bear within PA.

This is designed to be an informal program. All children must be accompanied by an adult in order to participate. Program may be modified or cancelled in the event of severe weather or new CDC Guidelines.  Those interested should meet at the amphitheater (by the pool).

With at least three days notice, interpreters for people who are deaf or hard of hearing are available for educational programs.
