On Saturday, July, 15, Hyner Run State Park will be hosting a "Local History Day" from 3-9:30 p.m.
People can enjoy the 90th year anniversary of the Civilian Conservation Corps by joining the naturalist and guest speakers for a good afternoon and evening of local history..
There will be three programs dealing with the local history of the area:
• "CCC of Clinton County" at 3:30 p.m.: A program presented by Rich Wykoff, local historian of the Greater Renovo Area Heritage Park, and will be about some of the camps in Clinton County and its surroundings (including CCC Camp S-75 "Hyner").
• "Logging and Local Industry" at 6 p.m.: A program presented by Lou Bernard, overseer of Adult Services at Ross Library and local historian, and will be about the lumbering industry and others in the area.
• "Forests of the Past" at 8 p.m.: A program presented by Lin Greenaway, Forester of the Sproul State Forest, and will take a look in some topics like how the forests looked before colonists came over and how the forests were altered.
People are free to come to all three programs, or go to one and hop in the pool or grill hot dogs.
All children must be accompanied by an adult in order to participate in the program.
Program may be modified or cancelled in the event of severe weather or new state or community guidelines.
The first two programs will be held at the amphitheater by the pool and will be moved to Pavilion No. 1 in the event of rain.
The third program will be held in Pavilion No. 1. People interested should bring a lawn chair to the first two programs.
