Fall Wildflowers

WHERE: Hyner Run State Park

WHEN: Friday, Sept. 1 at 3:30 p.m.

NOTES: Take a stroll around Hyner Run State Park with the naturalist to see the "Late Summer and Fall Wildflowers" coming out during the late summer.

All children must be accompanied by an adult in order to participate. Program may be modified or cancelled in the event of severe weather or new community guidelines. Meet at the amphitheater.

KATYDID CADENCE

WHERE: Hyner Run State Park

WHEN: Saturday, Sept. 2 at 7:30 p.m.

NOTES: Join the park naturalist to learn about these fascinating insects and why they are singing at night and making a "Katydid Cadence." All children must be accompanied by an adult in order to participate.

Program may be modified or cancelled in the event of severe weather or new community guidelines. Meet at the amphitheater and bring a lawn chair.

COYOTES

WHERE: Hyner Run State Park

WHEN: Saturday, Sept. 2 at 3:30 p.m.

NOTES: Join the park naturalist to learn more about the coyotes around Pennsylvania. Topics will include adaptations, diet and a brief overview of the natural history of the coyotes within the state. This is designed to be an informal program and will be a table format. All children must be accompanied by an adult in order to participate.

Program may be modified or cancelled in the event of severe weather or new community guidelines. Meet at the pool.

WHERE: Rider Park (1769 Caleb Creek Road in Trout Run)

WHEN: Friday, Sept. 8 (Rain dates Sept. 9-10)

NOTES: Parking is limited, please call 570-321-1500 or email AmyP@FCFPartnership.org to register for this free event. Directions to Rider Park can be found at RiderPark.org. The organization is asking visitors to arrive between 8:30-9 p.m. and the event will begin at 9 p.m.

The event will feature members of the Central Pennsylvania Observers, an amateur astronomy club (https://cpoclub.org/).

LUMBERING AT

LITTLE PINE

WHERE: Little Pine State Park

WHEN: Friday, Sept. 8 at 3:30 p.m.

NOTES: Step back in time and experience the culture of the lumbermen in the late 1800s for the "Lumbering of Little Pine." Topics will include the local history and prehistory of the area, the different developments made in the era, and the results at the end of the era.

All children must be accompanied by an adult in order to participate. Program may be modified or cancelled in the event of severe weather or new state or community guidelines. People interested should meet at the amphitheater.

MONARCH BUTTERFLIES

WHERE: Little Pine State Park

WHEN: Friday, Sept. 8 at 7:30 p.m.

NOTES: Join the park naturalist and learn about monarch butterflies, which have attracted many peoples' attention over the years. Its natural history, hardships faced, and citizen stewardship will be some of the topics explored.

All children must be accompanied by an adult in order to participate. Program may be modified or cancelled in the event of severe weather or new state or community guidelines. People interested should meet at the amphitheater.

SATURDAY BIRD WALK

WHERE: East Buffalo Township Building (589 Fairgrounds Road, Lewisburg)

WHEN: Saturday, Sept. 9 at.7 pm.

NOTES: Seven Mountains Audubon will hold its first educational meeting for the 2023-24 year on Sept. 20. It's pleased to host Linelle Mansberger who will present "Birds, Beasts and Beauty: The Bountiful Island of Papua New Guinea."

Travel to the South Pacific through Linette Mansberger's photographic presentation of her 2022 trip to Papua New Guinea. The program will include a tiny bit of geography, a little bit of history and a bounteous amount of beauty from this island country located just below the equator.

Programs are held at the East Buffalo Township Building at 589 Fairgrounds Road in Lewisburg at 7 p.m.

WALK IN PENN'S

WOODS DAY

WHERE: Rider Park (1769 Caleb Creek Road in Trout Run)

WHEN: Sunday, Oct. 1

NOTES: Rider Park manager Sara Street will lead a forest health walk from 2-4 p.m. Meet at the main parking lot to learn about the health benefits of walking in nature while viewing the new vista overlooking the Loyalsock Creek.

We will walk approximately two miles and highlight a new 0.7 mile newly constructed trail that connects to the popular Doe Pen vista. Two vistas, a new trail, and forest health benefits.
