NOTES: A Walk in Penn's Woods is a statewide coordinated event by the Pennsylvania Forestry Association. It encourages people across Pennsylvania to visit and learn about the forests that enhance our well-being.
Forests are always working for us, providing recreation, wildlife habitat, beauty, improved water quality, clean air, wood products, carbon storage, and more.Join Rider Park Manager, Sara Street, on a hike of a portion of Cheryl's Trail and the new Green Trail while learning about how the forests enhance our well-being.
We will visit a new vista overlooking Loyalsock Creek and Doe Pen Vista.

WHERE: Summit Loop Trail (Laporte heading towards Eagles Mere on SR 42)
WHEN: Sunday, Oct. 1
NOTES: A Walk in Penn's Woods is a statewide coordinated event by the Pennsylvania Forestry Association. The special walk along the Summit Loop Trail in Sullivan County is hosted by the Loyalsock Foundation.
Everyone is encouraged to come and have fun with a nature scavenger hunt as you traipse through the woods. Look for shiny rocks, interesting insects, branches longer than your arms and more.
The Summit Loop is a mile long, making it ideal for families with young children. Stop by the trail between 11 a.m. and 3 p.m., pick up a scavenger hunt list and explore the woods at your leisure.
Light refreshments will be provided.
The Summit Loop is located 0.65 miles from the courthouse in Laporte, heading towards Eagles Mere on SR 42. Look for the driveway entrance on the left and a white banner. Parking is limited.

NOTES: Donna Woodland is getting ready to hike the Appalachian Trail in 2024. She will share her unique approach to journaling - capturing a moment. Create a quick sketch or watercolor and caption your picture with a few descriptive lines.
GREEN HAPPY HOUR

NOTES: If you have been considering taking action to combat the climate crisis, but haven't found your niche, please join us for a Green Happy Hour. The non-partisan Susquehanna Valley chapter of Citizens Climate Lobby will hold a social and informational session.
Appetizers and first-round of beverages are free. All are welcome to attend.
