LOYALSOCK CREEK WATERSHED ASSOCIATION OPEN MEETING

WHERE: Plunketts Creek Volunteer Fire Hall-327 at 327 Dunwoody Road, Barbours

WHEN: Tuesday, April 30 at 7 p.m.

NOTES: This meeting is open to the public. There will be a presentation by Matt Kaunert, director of Lycoming College Clean Water Institute entitled “New Direction of CWI and Update of Hellbenders in Watershed.”

SEVEN MOUNTAINS AUDUBON FIRST SATURDAY BIRD WALK

WHERE: 2459 Robert F. Miller Drive in Lewisburg

WHEN: Saturday, May 4 at 7 a.m.

NOTES: Brent Bacon willlead the group on the grounds of the U.S. Penitentiary in Lewisburg. This annual walk is awlays good for early spring warblers and other interesting birds. Wear good walking shoes for the uneven, but fairly short walk. Some binoculars are available for loan. The general public is welcome.

LYCOMING AUDUBON: MOSQUITO VALLEY

WHERE: Water Authority’s Visitor Parking Lot on Mosquito Valley Road.

WHEN: Saturday, May 4 at 8 a.m.

NOTES: Join the Lycoming Audubon Society for a bird walk at the Williamsport Water Authority to enjoy forested trails and brushy habitat as the warbler migration is at its heights. This location is a prime spot for Hooded and Blackburnian warblers, as well as hosting a variety of other species.

LITTLE BEAR CREEK YOUTH FISHING DERBY

WHERE: Little Bear Creek

WHEN: Sunday, May 5 (8 a.m. to 4 p.m.)

NOTES: The annual Little Bear Creek Youth Fishing Derby is for kids age 4-12. There will be prizes for each age group (4-6, 6-8, 8-10 and 10-12) and every kid will receive a goodie bag.

LYCOMING AUDUBON: RIDER PARK BLUEBIRD TRAIL

WHERE: Rider Park

WHEN: Tuesdays, beginning May 14 at 8 a.m.

NOTES: Bird the Lycoming Audubon Bluebird Trail while monitoring nest boxes. Learn about the Bluebirds, their calls, nests, habitat, and how they raise their young.
