Michael Kinney paddles near Williamsport, final stretch

Middle Susquehanna Riverkeeper Association president Michael Kinney continues his daily paddle along the West Branch of the Susquehanna River. He started on May 1 in Cherry Tree and on Friday, May 17, stopped just outside of Nesbit at the Antler on the Water restaurant just west of Williamsport.

The Middle Susquehanna Riverkeeper Association hase been sharing photos and other updates from his trip as they have been available at www.middlesusquehannariverkeeper.org/west-branch-adventure.html. The Middle Susquehanna Riverkeeper Association will be following the final stretch of his voyage as he paddles to the Northumberland convergence with the main stem of the Susquehanna in the near future.

Kinney has been collecting data along the trip, including using a mobile version of the BirdNet unit, a PUC, that has been tracking bird calls, identifying them and uploading them to our site. It has nearly 2,000 bird detections on certain days, and in the past week alone identified 67 different bird species along the West Branch during his trip. We will be doing an overview of the full data when his trip is complete.

The Middle Susquehanna Riverkeeper Association serves an 11,000-square-mile watershed of the Susquehanna River, including Sullivan, Lycoming, Clinton, Union and Northumberland counties. Read more at www.middlesusquehannariverkeeper.org.
