RIDER PARK BLUEBIRD TRAIL

NOTES: Explore the Lycoming Audubon Bluebird Trail while monitoring nest boxes. You’ll be able to learn about the bluebirds, their calls, nests, habitat and how they raise their young.
Please email Bruce Buckle at bcbuckle60@gmail.com beforehand to confirm as the monitoring schedule is subject to change.
The program is free and open to the public.
RIDER PARK STAR PARTY
WHERE: Ryder Park
WHEN: Friday, August 9 at 8:30 p.m.
NOTES: Rider Park is hosting a “Star Party” with Central Pennsylvania Observers on Friday, Aug. 9. Those should arrive at 8:30-9 p.m. and the show will begin at 9:15 p.m.
Those interested should park in the main pakring lot. You will be greeted and directed to the picnic pavilion. Please bring binoculars, a chair, blankets, warm clothes and red flashlights are encouraged.

PENNSYLVANIA’S OLDEST FORESTS
WHERE: Hyper Run State Park and Little Pine State Park
WHEN: Friday, Aug. 9 at 8 p.m. (Hyner Run) and Saturday, Aug. 10 at 8 p.m. (Little Pine)
NOTES: Join the park naturalist at Hynes Run State Park to learn about topics on PA’s Oldest Forests such as the history that many of these forests went through and some of the threats old growth forests face today. All children must be accompanied by an adult in order to participate.
The program may be modified or canceled in the event of severe weather or new community guidelines.
Those interested in the Hyner Run program should meet at the amphitheater by the pool. Those interested in the Little Pine program should meet at the amphitheater.
Please bring a lawn chair.
BLACK BEARS
WHERE: Hyner Run State Park and Little Pine State Park
WHEN: Friday, Aug. 9 at 3:30 p.m. (Hyner Run) and Saturday, Aug. 10 at 3:30 p.m. (Little Pine)
NOTES: Join the park naturalist to learn more about the black bears around Pennsylvania. Topics will include adaptions, diet and a brief overview of the natural history of the black bear within Pennsylvania. This is designed to be an informal program. All children must be accompanied by an adult in order to participate.

NATURE JOURNALING
WHERE: Hyner Run State Park
WHEN: Saturday, August 10 from 2-4 p.m.
NOTES: Lose your inhibitions and be inspired by nature. You can learn how to make quick field journal sketches with Donna Woodland, a frequent hiker at Rider Park. Those interested should meet at the picnic pavilion. All materials will be provided. You are welcome to bring your favorite sketching materials, water colors and water.

FAMILY NATURE
ADVENTURE
WHERE: Hyner Run State Park
WHEN: Saturday, August 3 beginning at 4 p.m.
NOTES: The James V. Brown Library is hosting family nature adventure from 4-6 p.m. and a campfire hangout from 6-8 p.m. at RIder Park. Those interested in more information should visit the James V. Brown Library events calendar.
Those interested should park int he main parking lot and walk to the picnic pavilion. Additional parking is available at Eldred Township Volunteer Fire Company. A shuttle van will be available to transport to and from the park.
OUTDOOR REC SUMMER CAMP
WHERE: Little Pine State Park
WHEN: Wednesday, August. 14 to Friday, August. 16, 4-6 p.m. each night
NOTES: Kids in grades fourth through eighth are invited to an Outdoor Rec Summer Camp at Little Pine State Park. Join educations for three evenings of outdoor recreation instruction. There will be opportunities to discover a new activity each night including archery, fishing and kayaking.
Registration is required and priority will be given to participants that can make it to all three nights. It’s limited to ten kids.
All materials will be provided. Signups will last until August. 9. Those interested will meet at the boat launch on August. 14-15 and meet at the archery range (northern end of the park) on Aug. 16.

NOTES: This program is presented by David Hackenberg from Hackenberg Apiaries of Lewisburg at the monthly meeting at Eagle Grange No. 1. The public is invited to attend. Refreshments will be served following the program.
