RIDER PARK
BLUEBIRD TRAIL

NOTES: Explore the Lycoming Audubon Bluebird Trail while monitoring nest boxes. You’ll be able to learn about the bluebirds, their calls, nests, habitat and how they raise their young.
Please email Bruce Buckle at bcbuckle60@gmail.com beforehand to confirm as the monitoring schedule is subject to change.
The program is free and open to the public.
BYO KAYAK PADDLE
WHERE: Little Pine State Park
WHEN: Friday, July 12 at 3:30 p.m.
NOTES: This program will be a brief introduction to kayaking as well as a tour of Little Pine Reservoir. The history of the area, as well as the flora and fauna, will be topics of discussion.
All participants are asked to bring their own kayaks (kayaks must have a PFBC boat registration or state park launch permit), a U.S. Coast Guard-approved life jacket (and PFD) and whistle. All children must be accompanied by an adult in order to participate.
The program may be modified or canceled in the event of severe weather or new community guidelines.
Those interested should eet at the boat launch.
FIREFLIES
WHERE: Little Pine State Park and Hyner Run State Park
WHEN: Friday, July 12 at 8:15 p.m. (Little Pine) and Saturday, July 13 at 8:15 p.m. (Hyner Run)
NOTES: Join the park naturalist and learn about fireflies and why they light up nature during this particular time of the year. All children must be accompanied by an adult in order to participate. The program may be modified or canceled in the event of severe weather or new community guidelines.
Anyone interested in the Little Pine program should meet at the contact station by the campground. Those interested in the Hyner Run program should meet at the amphitheater by the pool, and should bring a lawnchair.
HIKE THE NATURE TRAIL
WHERE: Hyner Run State Park
WHEN: Saturday, July 13 at 3:30 p.m.
NOTES: Join the natural to hike the nature trail at Hyner Run State Park. There will be a discussion about the flora and fauna seen along the trail as well as the history of the area.
There will also be a look into trail information and etiquette. All children must be accompanied by an adult in order to participate. The program may be modified or canceled in the event of severe weather or new state or community guidelines.
Those interested should meet at the amphitheater by the pool.
SUMMER WILDFLOWERS
OF LITTLE PINE
WHERE: Little Pine State Park
WHEN: Friday, July 19 at 8 p.m.
NOTES: Take a stroll around Little Pine State Park with the naturalist to see the different summer wildflowers of Little Pine. All children must be accompanied by an adult in order to participate.

PHOTO SCAVENGER HUNT

WHEN: Friday, July 19 at 3:30 p.m.
NOTES: Bring a camera or cell phone for this high-tech photo scavenger hunt at Little Pine State Park. Find the items on the list, take a photo and get a prize.

LOCAL HISTORY DAY
WHERE: Hyner Run State Park
WHEN: Saturday, July 20 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
NOTES: Join the naturalist and guest speakers for a great day of local history. There will be five programs dealing with the local history of the area, including a program about some of the camps in Clinton County and its surroundings — which includes the CCC Camp at Hyner Run — that starts at 11 a.m. (presented by the park naturalist), a program on the coal industry in the area that starts at 1 p.m. (presented by Lou Bernard, overseer of the Adult Services at Ross Library and local historian), a program about the history of the forests that starts at 2 p.m. (presented by Lin Greenaway, Forester of the Sproul State Forest), a program on the lumber industry of the area that is ongoing from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. (presented by Jennifer Haines, Museum Educator at the PA Lumber Museum) and a program on branding tree cookies for a memento to take home that is ongoing from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. (presented by the campground hosts of Hyner Run State Park).
All children must be accompanied by an adult in order to participate in the program. Program may be modified or canceled in the event of severe weather or new state or community guidelines. “CCC of Clinton County” and “Coal Industry” will be held at the amphitheater by the pool and will be moved to Pavilion No. 1 in the event of rain. “Forests of the Past” will be held at Pavilion No. 1.
The two ongoing programs will be held on the lawn by the amphitheater. Please bring a lawn chair.
