Hughesville natives Myers, Fisher see trap shooting success with Sullivan County trap team

At the 2024 Junior Olympics, recent Hughesville graduate Lucy Myers, an 18-year-old from Picture Rocks, took gold for the second year in a row in international bunk trap for women and will make Team USA. Myers committed to Liberty University's shot gun team in the fall of 2024.
The Sullivan County International shooting team participated in the International Trap Junior Olympics held at Hillsdale College in Michigan in late July. The event is 125 targets to qualify for the final event.
Two women team members -- Myers and Allison Fisher, both Hughesville natives -- made it to the top 6 overall to compete in the women's junior finals.
Myers came in second overall with a 107 of 125 earning the No. 2 bib and Fisher, just 15 years old, finished with a 105 to take the No. 4 bib.
The final event consisted of 50 targets and athletes are eliminated throughout the competition. After the first 25 single barrel targets, Myers was safe with an 18/25 score and Fisher was safe with a 15/25 score. Myers then received a fist bump from her younger teammate and words of encouragement as she walked back put to the shooting line.
After 25 more targets and four more athletes were eliminated, Myers stood alone in awe that she just won the Junior Olympic title for the second consecutive year after winning the SCTP national title a week prior.
The event also served as a Team USA qualifier event. The top two women and men after the 125 qualifying targets are awarded spots on the USA International trap team. In less than two weeks, Myers won two national events and earned spots on two national teams.
After years of hard work on and off the shooting stage, Myers has claimed a ton of success this summer. Due to injuries throughout her high school athletic career, Myers shoots with a large brace on her right knee, which in turn caused her set backs at even the shotgun range. She has been through years of physical therapy to repair injuries, but continued to train hard and compete as much as she can to reach her achievements.
Fisher finished sixth place overall after the final, but first place in her age division.
