AUDUBON EVENT:
GLACIER POOLS
PRESERVE
WHERE: 757 Pine Tree Road in Hughesville
WHEN: Saturday, May 17 at 9 a.m.
NOTES: Join the Lycoming Audubon Society on a venture to the eastern portion of Lycoming County and walk the woods and fields of this unique 270 acre preserve. Woodpeckers and other forest specieis as well as migrating warblers should be found.
The trail is easy to moderate hiking. The porgram is free and open to the public. For more details, visit www.lycomingaudubon.org.
VOLUNTEER CLEANUP
WHERE: Hyner Run State Park
WHEN: Saturday, May 17 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.
NOTES: Join some of the park staff for a spring cleanup at Hyner Run State Park. The projects will mainly revolve around tidying up the main day use area of the park and will include, but will not be limited to, mulching, adding sand to the horsehoe pits, staining and placing new boards on picnic tables.
Gloves and tools will be provided. Please make sure to arrive at least an hour and a half before 10 a.m. to fill out volunteer forms and get instruction.
Also make sure to wear work shoes or work boots and dress appropriately for the weather. Hot dogs and beverages will be provided for lunch.

The registration deadline is Monday, May 12. Anyone with quesitons about registration should contact Ian Lowen, the environmental educational specialist, at 570-763-6005.

AUDUBON EVENT:
SKYLINE DRIVE
WHERE: Take Route 15 out of South Williamsport, pass Little League and climb Montgomery Pike to the top of the mountain and park at the rest stop (no comfort facilities).
WHEN: Saturday, May 17 at 9 a.m.
NOTES: Join the Lycoming Audubon Society for a bird walk along Skyline Drive. The paved road is quite walkable, gently ascendnign the northeast slope of Bald Eagle Mountain.
We expect to see and hear resident birds of a typical mixed PA forest, including late spring warblers. The vistas of the West Branch Valley are a treat.

REMAKE LEARNING DAYS: HABITAT HIKE
WHERE: Hyner Run State Park and Little Pine State Park
WHEN: Friday, May 23 at 3:30 p.m. (Little Pine) and 7:30 p.m. (Hyner Run)
NOTES: Join the environmental education specialist for "Remake Learning Days: Habitat Hike" on the Hyner Run Nature Trailor Button Ball Trail (Little Pine) to explore some different habitats. Plant and animal species and habitat are among and topics that are going to be discussed.
This is designed to be an informal program. All children must be accompanied by an adult in order to participate. The program may be modified or canceled in the event of severe weather or new community guidelines.
Those interested in the Hyner Run program should meet at the amphitheater by the pool. Those interested in the Little Pine program should meet at the amphitheater.
STONE MASON
WORKSHOP
WHERE: Rider Park
WHEN: Friday, May 23 (9 a.m. to 3 p.m.) and Saturday, May 24 (9 a.m. to noon)
NOTES: Learn dry laid stone wall building techniques from James Asbury, a local stone mason with over 26 years of experience. We will rebuild a portion of a house foundation dating back to the late 1890s. Asbury will teach to the standards of Dry-Stone Walling Association of Great Britain.
Bring your own lunch, rock tools if you have them, gloves and work boots. Those interested will meet at the maintenance shed.
The cost is $300 via cash or by Venmo.
EVENING BIRDING
WHERE: Little Pine State Park and Hyner Run State Park
WHEN: Saturday, May 24 at 8 p.m. (Little Pine) and Sunday, May 25 at 8 p.m. (Hyner Run)
NOTES: Join the naturalist for evening birding on the Lake Shore Trail (Little Pine program). Topics will include the different birds that live at Little Pine andHyner Run, and also how to identify them.
A limited number of binoculars will be on hand. Please bring any other birding gear if desired. All children must be accompanied by ana dult in order to participate.
The program may be modified or canceled in the event of severe weather or new community guidelines.
Those interested should meet at the Lake Shore Trail (kiosk at dam) for the Little Pine program or at the amphitheater (by the pool) for the Hyner Run program.
SALAMANDER SAFARI
WHERE: Little Pine State Park and Hyner RUn State Park
WHEN: Saturday, May 24 at 3:30 p.m. (Little Pine) and Sunday, May 25 at 3:30 p.m. (Hyner Run)
NOTES: Join the environmental education specialist to search for salamanders beside Love Run (LIttle Pine) and learn why they are an important part to the environment in a salamander safari.
Participants should bring pool shoes or other shoes that can get wet. All children must be accompanied by an adult in order to participate.
The program may be modified or canceled in the event of sever weather or new community guidelines.
Those interested in the Little Pine program should meet near Pavilion No. 3. Those interested in the Hyner Run program should meet by the pool.
STAR PARTY
WHERE: Rider Park
WHEN: Friday, May 30 at 8:30 p.m.
NOTES: Please arrive between 8:30-8:50 p.m. This event will start early at 9 p.m. It will not be completely dark yet, but the event will look to begin wtih an explanation of the seasonal changes in the night sky.
As the sky darkens, we will be able to look through several different types of telescopes to view night sky objects.
Plan to be at the park for approximately two hours. Please bring your chair, blankets, warm clothes and snacks.

NOTES: Join the James V. Brown Library and Rider Park manager Sara Street to explore plants around the meadow, observe trees, birds and pollinators up close. Then create a nature journal using quick sketches and watercolors. This is a family friend free event.
