AUDUBON EVENT:
CHAPTER MEETING
WHERE: Taber Museum in Williamsport (858W. Fourth St.)
WHEN: Wednesday, May 28 at 6:30 p.m.
NOTES: Join the Lycoming Audubon Society for the program 'Managing Habitat for Birds and Wildlife at the Robert Porter Allen Natural Area" presented by the South Side Recreation Authority Wildlife Habitat Management Committee. Learn about the birds of RPANA and Lycoming Audubon's partnership with the SSRA to maintain and improve habitat and other wildlife at RPANA.
The program is free and open to the public. You can also attend virtually via Zoom using the link found at www.lycomingaudubon.org.
STAR PARTY
WHERE: Rider Park
WHEN: Friday, May 30 at 8:30 p.m.
NOTES: Please arrive between 8:30-8:50 p.m. This event will start early at 9 p.m. It will not be completely dark yet, but the event will look to begin wtih an explanation of the seasonal changes in the night sky.
As the sky darkens, we will be able to look through several different types of telescopes to view night sky objects.
Plan to be at the park for approximately two hours. Please bring your chair, blankets, warm clothes and snacks.
BLACK BEARS
WHERE: Hyner Run State Park and Little Pine State Park
WHEN: Friday, May 30 at 3:30 p.m. (Little Pine) Saturday, May 31 at 3:30 p.m. (Hyner Run)
NOTES: Join the park naturalist to learn more about the black bears around Pennsylvania. Topics will include adaptions, diet and a brief overview of the natural history of the black bear within Pennsylvania. This is designed to be an informal program.
All children must be accompanied by an adult in order to participate. The program may be modified or canceled in the event of severe weather or new state or community guidelines.
Those interested in the Hyner Run program should meet at the pool. Those interested in the Little Pine program should meet at the contact station near the campground.
SOLITARY RATS
WHERE: Hyner Run State Park and Little Pine State Park
WHEN: Friday, May 30 at 8 p.m. (Little Pine) and Saturday, May 31 at 8 p.m. (Hyner Run)
NOTES: Join the park naturalist for the program solitary rats, which will be focusing on a type of packrat that is mainly solitary and not very common in Pennsylvania: the Allegheny woodrat.
All children must be accompanied by an adult in order to participate. The program may be modified or canceled in the event of severe weather or new state or community guidelines.
Those interested in the Hyner Run program should meet at the amphiteather by the pool. Please bring a lawn chair. Those interested in the Little Pine program should meet at the amphitheater.
THERAPY WALK IN
RIDER PARK

NOTES: Join Deep Green Journey, Responsible Decarbonization Alliance and Rider Park for a therapeutic forest walk. This is a slow throughtful meander. All fitness levels are welcome.

NOTES: Join Julie Hulslander as she guides you through the process of making your environmentally focused art oster. We will laminate the posters for longevity so they can be displayed.

NATURE JOURNALING AT
RIDER PARK
WHERE: Rider Park
WHEN: Wednesday, June 25 (9-11 a.m.) … Wednesday, July 16 (5:30-7 p.m.) … Saturday, Aug. 2 (9-11 a.m.)
NOTES: Join the James V. Brown Library and Rider Park manager Sara Street to explore plants around the meadow, observe trees, birds and pollinators up close. Then create a nature journal using quick sketches and watercolors. This is a family friend free event.
