Community Outdoors calendar for week of May 6
SPRING AMBIENCE
WHERE: Little Pine State Park. and Hyner Run State Park
WHEN: Friday, May 9 at 3:30 p.m. (Hyner Run and 7:30 p.m. (Little Pine)
NOTES: Join the naturalist at Hyner Run State Park and/or Little Pine State Park for a relaxing stroll to see and hear the different sights and sounds of spring during the program “Spring Ambience.”
Topics of discussion will center around what is being seen and/or heard. This is designed to be an informal program. All children must be accompanied by an adult in order to participate.
The program may be modified or canceled in the event of severe weather or new community guidelines.
Those interested in the Little Pine State Park program should meet at the beginning of the Lake Shore Trail (kiosk at top of dam). Those interested int he Hyner Run State Park program should meet at the amphitheater by the pool.
AUDUBON EVENT:
OHL/MCELHATTAN
RESERVOIR
WHERE: Meet at the Valero gas station at I-80 Exit 185 (PA Route 477) and then carpool/travel to the reservoir.
WHEN: Saturday, May 10 at 9 a.m.
NOTES: Join the Lycoming Audubon Society for a bird walk at the Ohl/McElhattan Reservoir in Southern Clinton County to find waterfowl, warblers and raptors.

AUDUBON EVENT:
GLACIER POOLS
PRESERVE
WHERE: 757 Pine Tree Road in Hughesville
WHEN: Saturday, May 17 at 9 a.m.
NOTES: Join the Lycoming Audubon Society on a venture to the eastern portion of Lycoming County and walk the woods and fields of this unique 270 acre preserve. Woodpeckers and other forest specieis as well as migrating warblers should be found.
The trail is easy to moderate hiking. The porgram is free and open to the public. For more details, visit www.lycomingaudubon.org.
VOLUNTEER CLEANUP
WHERE: Hyner Run State Park
WHEN: Saturday, May 17 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.
NOTES: Join some of the park staff for a spring cleanup at Hyner Run State Park. The projects will mainly revolve around tidying up the main day use area of the park and will include, but will not be limited to, mulching, adding sand to the horsehoe pits, staining and placing new boards on picnic tables.
Gloves and tools will be provided. Please make sure to arrive at least an hour and a half before 10 a.m. to fill out volunteer forms and get instruction.
Also make sure to wear work shoes or work boots and dress appropriately for the weather. Hot dogs and beverages will be provided for lunch.

AUDUBON EVENT:
SKYLINE DRIVE
WHERE: Take Route 15 out of South Williamsport, pass Little League and climb Montgomery Pike to the top of the mountain and park at the rest stop (no comfort facilities).
WHEN: Saturday, May 17 at 9 a.m.
NOTES: Join the Lycoming Audubon Society for a bird walk along Skyline Drive. The paved road is quite walkable, gently ascendnign the northeast slope of Bald Eagle Mountain.
We expect to see and hear resident birds of a typical mixed PA forest, including late spring warblers. The vistas of the West Branch Valley are a treat.
