Community Outdoors calendar for Week of July 29
SUMMER’S AMBIENCE
WHERE: Little Pine State Park
WHEN: Friday, Aug. 1 at 8:15 p.m. (Little Pine) and Saturday, Aug. 2 at 9:30 a.m. (Hyner Run)
NOTES: Join the naturalist for a relaxing evening to hear summer’s ambience. Topics of discussion will center around what is being heard. This is designed to be an informal program.
All children must be accompanied by an adult in order to participate.
The program may be modified or canceled in the event of severe weather or new state or community guidelines.
Those interested in the Little Pine program should meet at the boat launch. Please bring a lawn chair. Those intersted in the Hyner Run program should meet at the amphitheater by the pool.
BOBCATS
WHERE: Little Pine State Park and Hyner Run State Park
WHEN: Friday, Aug. 1 at 3:30 p.m. (Little Pine) and Saturday, Aug. 2 at 1 p.m. (Hyner Run)
NOTES: Join the environmental education specialist to learn about Pennsylvania’s bobcats. This is designed to be an informal proram.

WHERE: Hyner Run State Park and Little Pine State Park
WHEN: Friday, Aug. 8 at 3:30 p.m. (Little Pine) and Saturday, Aug. 9 at 3:30 p.m. (Hyner Run)
NOTES: Join the park naturalist to learn about the different trees in Hyner Run State Park. There will be a craft at the end. This program will be suited toward families with children, but anyone is welcome to attend.

CCC OF HYNER RUN AND LITTLE PINE
WHERE: Hyner Run State Park and Little Pine State Park
WHEN: Friday, Aug. 8 at 8 p.m. (Little Pine) and Saturday, Aug. 9 at 8 p.m. (Hyner Run)
WHERE: Join the park naturalist and learn about the CCC of Hyner Run and/or the CCC of Little Pine and the work they did in the 1930s and 1940s in the area, the culture in these camps and how it prepared some to be well-disciplined World War II veterans.
All children must be accompanied by an adult in order to participate. The program may be modified or canceled in the event of severe weather or new community guidelines.
Those interested in the Hyner Run program should meet at the amphitheater by the pool. Please bring a lawn chair. Those interested in the Little Pine program should meet at the amphitheater.
SULLIVAN COUNTY
SUMMIT LOOP
WHERE: Summit Loop in Laporte
WHEN: Thursday, Aug. 14 from 6-8 p.m.
NOTES: This is the second field trip in collaboration with the Loyalsock Foundation in Sullivan County. This evening walk will again explore the Summit Trail. There are more than 70 acres adjacent to the Sullivan County School District that are being developed as a recreation area. Forested areas, rock ledges and a bog will offer a variety of habitats to look and listen for birds.
For directions on a GPS enter “Summit Loop, Laporte, PA.” Take US Route 220 to Laporte and enter the borough US PA Route 42. Travel through town on Main Street, the entrance to the area is off Route 42 approximately 0.6 miles after the Sullivan County Courthouse. Watch for the sign on the left side of the road.
Those interested should meet at the parking area at the end of the driveway.
