There’s no denying it–the Susquehanna River is a natural treasure, offering endless possibilities for outdoor adventure. From paddling and hiking to biking and birding, interest in exploring this incredible waterway has surged in recent years. But knowing where to start, what gear to use, or where to go can still feel overwhelming.
That’s where the Susquehanna Greenway Partnership (SGP) steps in. Dedicated to connecting communities to the river and its surrounding landscapes, SGP is helping people access the trails, tools, and knowledge they need to enjoy the Susquehanna Greenway to the fullest.
This summer, that mission takes center stage at the 4th Annual Susquehanna Greenway Outdoor Expo, happening Saturday, Aug. 2, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Set against the scenic backdrop of Shikellamy State Park Marina–where the North and West branches of the river meet–the Expo brings together outdoor experts, gear vendors, educators, and environmental partners for a one-day celebration of recreation, learning, and connection in the great outdoors.
The event will feature more than 50 vendors from across the state to engage with attendees and offer a full slate of activities, presentations, and demonstrations–all at no cost to the public. It’s a great way to discover new opportunities to engage with the outdoors in the region and beyond!

With programming that includes a live wildlife show, intro to paddling lessons, kid-friendly activities, food trucks, live music, and more, there is something for the whole family.
Numerous exhibitors will be there including the Bald Eagle Mountain Bike Association, R.B. Winter Chapter of Trout Unlimited, Susquehanna River Trail Association, Michael Kinney Photography, Riverside Adventure Company and others.
BEMBA is a non-profit club dedicated to mountain bike advocacy, education, access and trail building.
R.B. Winter Chapter of Trout Unlimited focuses on educational programming and activities within the Susquehanna Valley. Chapter members will provide fly-tying demonstrations throughout the day and a tank with live critters at the Expo.
Susquehanna River Trail Association is a volunteer non-profit group tasked with maintaining the 22 island campsites of the middle section from Sunbury to Harrisburg.

Kinney is a photographer who most recently had a 228-mile thru-paddle of the West Branch Susquehanna River which was recorded in virtual reality.
Riverside Adventure Company is based in Montour County and will provide free beginner paddling sessions at the Expo.
The event will also feature opportunities to learn wilderness first aid tips, packing essentials for your next hiking trip, a balance bike rodeo for the kids, learn how to disc golf, and other activities–plus, a chance to win a kayak or bike package and other great outdoor themed prizes! Did we mention there’s a butterfly tent?
